ENVIRONMENT: LEGAMBIENTE, ANTI-CONSUMER RESEARCH CENTER SOIL
(ANSA) – ROMA, 25 GEN -”In Italy 100 hectares a day disappear under the weight of cement, a surface area equivalent to 50 squares of the Duomo in Milan.” This would be the estimate, according to Legambiente, which endangers our country. And just to stop this ‘theft’ of soil Legambiente and the National Institute of Urban have decided to join forces and establish a research center on the consumption of soil that has as its objective the reduction of consumption itself, acting through its protection analysis and monitoring. The initiative ‘was presented today to the House during a press conference of the Radicals. ”In Italy – says Vittorio Cogliati Dezza, president of Legambiente – not only are we lack a national plan to fight against the consumption of land, but held a significant delay in the acquisition of updated data on the process of overbuilding and environmental effects, economic and social problems arising from it.” Containment of consumption of the soil, says Federico Oliva, president of the National Institute of urban planning,”must be a priority ‘of the government of the territory.”(ANSA). A good landscape
A good landscape that is pleasant and identification of the place is a need for us all. A good landscape produces a sense of wellbeing, poor landscape produces discomfort. The landscape also has an impact on our actions and our choices: a wine from a beautiful place can be considered better than one from a place without qualities, a degraded landscape reduces inhibitions and contributes to social deprivation and crime (the theory of broken windows).
Good landscape also has a great economic importance. Tourism in Italy produces about 30% of gross national product, but there is no tourism if there were beautiful and interesting places to go and see. When looking for a home prefer, if we can afford, a house with a view; which costs considerably more than a similar house that overlooks a courtyard or a street chaotic. In hotel rooms with view rooms cost more in the back. Even the growers have noticed that a good landscape is an added value to wine production, helping to sell wine. In 2001, a meeting of growers in the Colli Orientali del Friuli Cividale one of them blurted: “If we stay in business is no longer sufficient to produce wine, we also produce landscape”.
